St. Nicholas Admin

A parish of the Antiochian Archdiocese

Welcome to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, Springdale, AR.  We serve the greater Northwest Arkansas region including Springdale, Fayetteville, Rogers, Bentonville and the surrounding areas.

St. Nicholas Church is pastored by Fr. John Atchison.  He has just celebrated eleven years of ordination in the Eastern Orthodox Christian Church. St. Nicholas Church is in the Southeast Diocese of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America. We are the jurisdiction of the Orthodox Christian Church whose roots trace directly back to first century Antioch, the city in which the disciples of Jesus Christ were first called “Christians” (Acts 11:26). The Orthodox Church is the oldest and second largest Christian group in the world. We are called by God our creator to worship and follow Him, and to proclaim to the world His message of love, peace, and salvation.

God loves all mankind and desires that all human beings should believe in Him, know Him, abide in Him, and receive eternal life from Him. To accomplish this, God Himself came into the world as a man, Jesus Christ, becoming man that we might become like God. For a fuller statement of the fundamental beliefs of the Orthodox Church, read our statement of faith which St. Nicholas helped write: The Nicene Creed.

St. Nicholas was the Bishop of Myra in Lycia. He is known for many miracles and for his love and compassion for the poor and for children. He was also present at the First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea and was a staunch opponent of Arianism. Life of the real Saint Nick.
