St. Romanos the Melodist directing an Antiphonal ChoirLiturgical Choir

"In Orthodoxy, which is identical with the ancient Apostolic Church, everything is humble because everything comes from the Gospels, which are humility itself. Everything is simple, unaffected and solemn, as are the Gospels. All the music of our Church is contrition-evoking, not theatrical. Our religion says, Chant with understanding, that is, with wisdom and devoutness."
Photios Kontoglou (+1965)

Liturgical music is not just for the choir. We encourage everyone to participate, by singing, reading the Epistles, or chanting. We are working to simplify our current music and learn seasonal and festal music as necessary to feed our growing parish family. Please contact us with any questions you may have about the music at St. Nicholas Church. ChoirDir@StNicholasAR.org

Tawni Martini is our Choir Director. Tawni is a lifelong Christian but a recent convert to Orthodoxy. She earned a BA in Music and Christian Studies from Friends University in Wichita, KS, gaining with it valuable choral experience. Tawni has been involved in church music most of her adult life, both as a church pianist and as a choir member.
